About the Society

Who are we?

We are
The MycoNB Society is a federally registered non-profit, volunteer-managed association of amateur and professional mycologists and others with an interest in wild mushrooms and other fungi, based in New Brunswick, Canada.

Our goal is to inspire and spark public interest in and appreciation of fungi and the role it plays in nature.
Our objectives
1

Provide opportunities for the members to meet together to enjoy all aspects related to mushrooms and mycology

To educate members and the public about mycology through initiatives such as lectures, publications, forays, mushroom walks, etc.

2
3

To act as a resource for providing information to the community on matters affecting the preservation, identification and appreciation of the fungi of New Brunswick

To identify sites of particular ecological value and to work with other natural history and conservation organizations and government agencies to achieve their preservation

4
5

To research and gather data on mycological diversity in NB and to disseminate the resulting information to government agencies, research scientists, and interested members of the public

To actively share information with, and encourage participation from Wolastoqiyik, Mi’kmaq and Peskotomuhkati peoples, as we recognize that the activities of the society take place in their traditional unceded territory
